The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Raj Foods a Houston, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 3,300 pounds of Halal beef samosa products because a meat ingredient used in the product may have been produced in a facility that is not federally inspected.
The product subject to recall is 12 oz. bags of Raj Foods Halal Beef Samosa containing 12, 1 oz. beef samosas per bag.
The product subject to recall bears the establishment number "EST. 44163" inside the USDA mark of inspection. This product was produced between Aug. 9, 2011, and April 23, 2012, and was sold to supermarkets and restaurants in Texas.
The problem was discovered by FSIS during a routine food safety assessment.
FSIS has received no reports of illness due to consumption of Raj Foods Halal Beef Samosa. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.
